GS Yuasa International held an earth-breaking ceremony in Nangang Industrial Zone quite recently for a new lead-acid battery factory. With a total investment of one billion yuan, the project will produce a full range of maintenance-free automotive and motorcycle batteries. Upon completion, it expects to produce eight million automotive and five million motorcycle batteries annually. The construction will be carried out in three phases with Phase I commenced in September, 2016 and planned to launch production by March, 2018. The whole project will wrap up construction and be in full operation by the end of 2019.
As the biggest supplier of storage batteries and power sources in Japan, GS Yuasa owns 41 subsidiaries in 19 countries such as the United States, UK, Australia, etc. It is a close strategic partner with major automotive and motorcycle suppliers, with its market share of automotive and motorcycle starter batteries accounting for 16.8% (No.3 globally)and 38% (No.1 globally) respectively of the world’s total.
